In addition, they will demonstrate understanding of the MAR and the documentation needed with each administration of medication.
Our View on Safe Administration of Medications:
•We want you to understand that passing medications is a privilege not a right in the workplace. Nurses or supervisors may not feel comfortable delegating this responsibility to you.
•We highly encourage all our students to become a Certified Nurse Aide to ensure they are well rounded and flexible in the beginning of their healthcare career.
•Medication administration directly affects the care and the lives of the residents or clients you are caring for. It is a burden that is not to be taken lightly.
•Incorrect, unsafe, or careless administration of medications can result in harm, injury, or death.
•You must only administer medications that you, yourself, have prepared. You are ultimately going to be held responsible for any medication you give a resident or client.
